Change your subdomain

Your TubeCMS subdomain is the address visitors use to reach your site (e.g., yourname.tubecms.app). You can change it from your admin settings if you want a different name.

How to change your subdomain

  1. Go to Settings > Domain tab
  2. Scroll down to the Subdomain section
  3. Enter your new subdomain in the first field
  4. Retype it in the confirmation field to confirm
  5. Click Change Subdomain

You'll be automatically signed back in on your new address.

Rules and limits

  • You can only change your subdomain once every 30 days
  • Subdomains must be 3-30 characters long
  • Only lowercase letters, numbers, and hyphens are allowed
  • Certain names are reserved (e.g., admin, login, api) and cannot be used
  • Your new subdomain must not already be taken by another site

What happens to your old address?

After changing your subdomain, your old address will automatically redirect visitors to your new address for 30 days. This gives search engines and anyone with bookmarks time to update.

After 30 days, the old address will stop redirecting and the subdomain becomes available for others to use.

Custom domains

If you have a custom domain connected (e.g., blog.example.com), changing your subdomain has no effect on your custom domain. Your visitors will continue to reach your site through your custom domain as normal. The subdomain change only affects the .tubecms.app address.

Things to update

After changing your subdomain, you may want to update:

  • Any links to your old .tubecms.app address on social media profiles or other websites
  • Bookmarks in your browser
  • Your YouTube channel's "Links" section if it points to the old address

Your site content, uploads, analytics, and all other data remain unchanged.
